Information about Water and Gas Individualization

Individualization allows measuring the consumption of each unit (apartment/house), bringing transparency, savings, and control — each resident pays only for what they consume.

What is Individualization?

It is a system that measures the individual consumption of water and/or gas per unit in condominiums, residences, and operations with multiple measurement points.

Practical Benefits

  • Real savings on the monthly bill
  • Billing control and transparency
  • Quick detection of leaks and waste
  • Consumption awareness
  • Reduction of conflicts between residents
  • Property value appreciation

Transmission and Connectivity

GESTAG sends data automatically, allowing real-time monitoring and consumption history — ideal for locations with or without local network infrastructure.

Alerts and notifications

Result: constant reading, reliable reports, and quick action when abnormal consumption occurs.

Meter Installation (In Practice)

The system connects to the pulsed meter and records the reading per pulse, forming a chronological consumption history. This enables fair apportionment, auditing, and leak identification.

Where It Applies

  • Condominiums: per-unit measurement and reports per apartment
  • Residences: total consumption monitoring and alerts
  • Distributed operations: remote points, reservoirs, and wells

Implementation Process

Simple workflow, with guided deployment and operation validation:

  1. Site analysis: assessment of hydraulic structure and measurement points
  2. Planning: definition of locations and organization by units/floors
  3. Installation: connection to the pulsed meter and transmitter placement
  4. Configuration: parameters, network (chip/Wi-Fi), and unit registration
  5. Testing and validation: transmission, readings, and alerts check
  6. Training: use of the dashboard and monitoring routine

GESTAG Water Reconciliation

Water reconciliation in condominiums refers to the process of reading and individually billing the water consumption of each unit (apartment or house) based on individual meters (hydrometers). The term is often used as a synonym for meter individualization.

The main goal is to ensure that each resident pays exactly for the volume of water they consume, avoiding unfair divisions by ideal fraction or equal apportionment.

How It Works

  1. Individual Measurement: A specific meter is installed for each residential unit. The GESTAG system collects the measurement, which can be done manually or by our automatic systems.
  2. Fair Billing: When manual, a meter reader inserts the data of each meter via the GESTAG application. In this way, the condominium itself performs the monthly reading of each unit's consumption, and GESTAG issues the bill based on the actual consumption of each apartment. Only the consumption of common areas is shared among everyone.

Benefits

  • FINANCIAL JUSTICE: Residents with lower consumption pay less, and those who spend more, pay more.
  • CONSCIOUS CONSUMPTION: Control and visibility reduce waste.
  • SAVINGS: Reduction in the total consumption of the condominium can reach 40% or more.
  • LEAK IDENTIFICATION: Abnormal consumption is detected quickly.

Legislation

Federal Law No. 13,312/2016 made the installation of individual water meters mandatory in new condominiums and residential and commercial buildings in Brazil. For older condominiums, adoption depends on assembly approval.
